Why We Make Art

The first artist in the Bible was filled with the Spirit of God

Creativity isn't a distraction from faith — it's a reflection of the Maker. Three passages anchor everything we do in the Studio.

Filled to create

“I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding… to make artistic designs.”

Exodus 31:1–5

Bezalel was the first person Scripture says was filled with the Spirit — and it was to do creative work. Your skill is a gift to be stewarded.

Every instrument, His praise

“Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet… with strings and pipe, with clashing cymbals.”

Psalm 150

Scripture commissions a whole orchestra of praise. Whatever you play, build, or perform can become an offering.

In His name, with gratitude

“Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly… singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.”

Colossians 3:16–17

Art that flows from a grateful heart, soaked in His word, becomes worship the world can see and hear.

10 · Creative Devotionals

Made in the image of the Maker

A short series on imago Dei — why the God who creates made you to create too. Each reflection reveals as you scroll.

Genesis 1:27

“So God created mankind in his own image…”

The very first thing we learn about God is that He creates. To bear His image is, in part, to make.

Reflection

Your creativity is not a hobby — it's an echo.

When you write, paint, or play, you are doing a small version of what He did in the beginning: bringing order and beauty into being.

Exodus 35:31

“…filled with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts.”

Skill itself is a gift from the Spirit. Sharpening your craft can be an act of stewardship and worship.

Invitation

Make your next piece for an audience of One.

Before it's for a gallery, a feed, or a grade — let it first be an offering. That changes everything about why we create.

15 · FAQ

Questions, answered

Not at all. The Studio is for beginners and pros alike. We care more about your heart and willingness than your skill level — we'll help you grow.

Everyone is welcome — whether you're exploring faith or have walked with Jesus for years. Come make art with us and see.

Workshops, lab time and most events are free. Occasionally a materials fee applies for supplies — scholarships are always available.

Yes — the gear library has cameras, lenses, mics and instruments you can check out for projects. Just reserve through a team lead.

Submit through the portfolio form above. A team lead reviews submissions ahead of each Coffeehouse, gallery opening and film festival.

Bring your gift. We'll give you the stage.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.” — Colossians 3:23
