Assurance of Salvation
You know — beyond doubt — that you belong to Christ, sealed by His Spirit and secure in His love.
Discipleship at Watch Altars is a lifelong journey of following Jesus together — rooted in Scripture, sharpened in community, and lived out on campus. We walk with you from your first steps in faith to leading others toward Christ.

Work through a discipleship track together — applying truth to your studies, relationships, and calling.
When you're ready, you become a mentor yourself — multiplying what you've received into the next student.
Discipleship isn't about doing more — it's about consistent rhythms with God and people. Here's a healthy week.
Time with God — Word, prayer, worship.
Time with community — mentor & group.
Time with the world — serve & witness.
Discipleship is a journey with visible markers. These are the seven milestones we celebrate as you grow from a new believer into a disciple-maker.
You know — beyond doubt — that you belong to Christ, sealed by His Spirit and secure in His love.
A consistent rhythm of Scripture and prayer becomes the heartbeat of your day, not a duty.
You're known and committed — serving in a small group, attending gatherings, and building real friendships.
The fruit of the Spirit grows visibly — patience, integrity, and love shape how you live on campus.
You can tell your story and explain the gospel clearly, inviting friends into a relationship with Jesus.
You now disciple someone else — multiplying your faith and completing the cycle that started with you.
Growth isn't a race — these markers help you see God's faithful work over time, one step after another.
A disciple is shaped by the truth they carry. We memorize Scripture together — one verse a week — so that God's Word becomes the first voice you hear in temptation, doubt, and decision.
I have hidden Your word in my heart...
— Psalm 119:11 · This week's memory verse
Discipleship isn't behavior management — it's transformation. As you abide in Christ, His Spirit grows real fruit in your life. These nine qualities orbit a single center: a heart surrendered to God.
Sacrificial care for others
Gladness rooted in God
Calm beyond circumstance
Grace under delay
Tender toward all
Integrity that acts
Reliable & true
Strength under control
Mastery by the Spirit
Real growth needs honest relationships. We've built simple, grace-filled structures so no one walks alone — and everyone has someone asking the questions that matter.
Groups of three meet weekly to confess, encourage, and pray. Small enough to be honest.
Your mentor asks the deeper questions and helps you set faithful next steps each week.
A simple shared sheet to keep your spiritual rhythms visible and celebrated — never to shame.
A safe place to bring struggles and sin — met with grace, truth, and confidential support.
Discipleship happens in the fabric of everyday life. Here are the communities you'll be woven into — each one a place to grow, belong, and serve.

Discipleship is best understood in the faces of those it has shaped. Here's what God has been doing in our students.
"I came to UCSD a skeptic. My mentor patiently walked through every question I had. Two years later, I'm leading a Life Group of my own."
"The Rooted track gave me a foundation I never had. For the first time, my faith felt like mine — not just my family's. I finally know why I believe."
"My triad became my closest friends. We've prayed each other through breakups, failures, and big decisions. I've never felt so known and so free."
Wondering where to start or what discipleship really involves? Here are the things students ask us most.
Still have a question? Our discipleship team would love to talk.
Not at all. Many students begin exploring while still asking big questions. Our "First Steps" track and mentors are a safe place to investigate faith honestly — no pressure, no judgment.
Most students invest a weekly mentor meeting (about an hour) plus their Life Group. Beyond that, your daily rhythms with God are yours to shape. We help you build a sustainable pace, not burnout.
We match you with a trained, vetted mentor — often an upperclassman, grad student, or staff member — based on your stage of life, schedule, and field of study. You can request a different match anytime.
Discipleship tracks and mentorship are completely free. Retreats and some events have optional, subsidized fees — and scholarships are always available so cost is never a barrier.
Yes — that's the goal! After growing through the tracks, the "Multiply" track equips you to disciple others. Mentoring is the natural overflow of being discipled well.
